Principals Address

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our St. Munchin’s College website. We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to our school and to share our ethos and aspirations with you.

St. Munchin’s College is the Roman Catholic Diocesan College for the Diocese of Limerick. We were founded by Bishop John Young in 1796, and moved to our present campus in Corbally, just outside Limerick city in 1962. The motto of the college is “Veritas in Caritate” taken from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians “If we live by the truth and in love, we shall grow in all ways”

Principal – Fr. Charles Irwin

Our ethos and philosophy is one that endeavours to form young men who will go into the world and bring with them strong Christian values. Through a broad based curriculum and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, we hope that our students can grow in all ways, - aesthetically, emotionally, intellectually, morally, physically, socially and spiritually. We have a strong and vibrant tradition in St. Munchin’s College based on respect and a caring community.

We have a committed team of teachers and support staff who provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and encourage social justice.

Over the six year programme, our students have the opportunity to participate in sport, drama, debating and music. We encourage an interest in the environment and social issues. We want our students to leave us as young men, equipped for the 21st century, well rounded and ready to embrace an active and Christian adult life.

I hope you enjoy visiting our website and it gives you a real sense of what we offer. With the Deputy Principal David Quilter, I hope to lead the school further towards achieving the goal of helping each pupil fulfill his potential. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
